Julia Roberts and her family are mourning the loss of the Oscar-winning actress' younger half-sister, Nancy Motes, who recently died at age 37 from what they say is an apparent drug overdose.
She was found dead on Sunday in Los Angeles, her family members said in a statement posted by People magazine on Monday, Feb. 10.
"It is with deep sadness that the family of Nancy Motes ... confirms that she was found dead in Los Angeles yesterday of an apparent drug overdose," the statement reads. "There is no official report from the Coroner's office yet. The family is both shocked and devastated."
UPDATE: The Los Angeles County Coroner's Office is investigating Motes' death. A spokesperson told the Associated Press that her body was found at a friend's home, where she was dog-sitting, and that an autopsy has not yet been performed.
Motes shared a mother with Julia, 46, actor Eric Roberts, 57, and another sister, Lisa. Eric and his daughter, "American Horror Story" actress Emma Roberts, have not commented about the tragedy. Emma celebrated her 23rd birthday on Monday.
