Culver City mall attack: 2 girls sought for questioning

CULVER CITY, Calif.

Police released photos of two girls they call persons of interest. The robbery occurred on Monday at the Westfield Culver City mall. Police say the victim was attacked from behind by two girls.

"They took the victim's property from her and they fled the mall," said Lt. Allen Azran with the Culver City Police Department.

Witnesses described the suspects as a 16-year-old and a 9-year-old. They were last seen running southbound on Sepulveda Boulevard.

The victim was hospitalized and released. Police won't yet say whether the girls in the pictures are their suspects, but they want to talk with them.

"We want to make sure that the message gets out that we will investigate these incidents thoroughly and we will do our very best to bring those that are responsible to justice," said Azran.

Anyone with information was asked to contact the Culver City Police Department at (310) 253-6202.
