Teen girls surrender in Culver City mall assault

CULVER CITY, Calif.

The woman walking in a parking lot Monday was approached from behind and knocked to the ground by at least two girls who were originally thought to be 9 and 15. The woman's purse and merchandise were stolen, and the thieves fled on foot.

Culver City Police released images from surveillance video Wednesday depicting two suspects. Three girls -- two 14-year-olds and a 16-year-old -- were taken into police custody after surrendering at the school they attend. The girls are all L.A. residents.

Police were not identifying the girls due to their ages.
