Oxnard woman arrested for lighting other woman's tent on fire

OXNARD, Calif.

Oxnard police and fire personnel responded to a report of a vehicle fire on the 1200 block of Mercantile Street at about 5:20 p.m., according to the Oxnard Police Department.

Investigators determined Claudia Mendoza, 42, was involved in a dispute with an unidentified 60-year-old woman. Police said Mendoza lit the woman's tent on fire, which spread to an adjacent vehicle.

Witnesses pointed out Mendoza, and officers found evidence on her connecting her to the crime.

Mendoza was arrested for arson of an inhabited structure or property and for an outstanding warrant.

The 60-year-old woman was not injured.
