Jimmy Fallon made his debut as host of the "The Tonight Show" on NBC, with a slew of celebrity guests and a hysterical homage to the evolution of hip-hop.
Fallon took over the series on Feb. 17, following the exit of long-time host Jay Leno. The inaugural show, in its new home in New York City, featured a hilarious dance segment titled the "Evolution of Hip-Hop Dancing," featuring guest Will Smith. The video can be viewed below.
Smith and Fallon, dressed in '90s style overalls, patterned T-shirts and carpenter boots, performed classic hip-hop dance moves that spanned several decades. Transitioning from the "cabbage patch" to the "running man" to "twerking" and more, the two also performed the "Carlton," a move made famous by Smith's former "Fresh Prince of Bel-Air" costar Alfonso Ribeiro.
Ribeiro took to Twitter following the performance, saying, "I think Fallon did the dance better than Will. I'm gonna have to work with Will on doing it better. Lol. #justkidding."
Fallon also welcomed several surprise guests during a segment of the show in which the host said friends of his owed him $100 after betting that he would never host "The Tonight Show." Guests included the likes of Robert De Niro, Tina Fey, football legend Joe Namath, former mayor of New York City Rudy Giuliani, Mariah Carey, Tracy Morgan, Joan Rivers, Kim Kardashian, Seth Rogen, Lindsay Lohan, Sarah Jessica Parker, Mike Tyson, Lady Gaga and Stephen Colbert.
