5 Freeway: Full closure in Norwalk early Sunday morning

NORWALK, Calif.

All northbound and southbound lanes of the I-5 will be closed between Rosecrans Avenue and Alondra Boulevard between 12:01 a.m. and 8 a.m. Sunday, February 23.

Northbound drivers will exit at Carmenita Road for a surface-street detour to get back onto the 5 using the Rosecrans on-ramp. Southbound drivers will exit at Rosecrans and will detour to the Carmenita on-ramp.

The following ramps will fully close on Saturday, Feb. 22 at 7 p.m.:

  • Southbound I-5 on-ramp at Rosecrans Avenue
  • Southbound I-5 on-ramp and off-ramp at Carmenita Road
  • Northbound I-5 on-ramp at Carmenita Road
  • Northbound I-5 off-ramp at Rosecrans Avenue

The Westbound State Route 91 Connector to northbound I-5 will fully close on Sunday, Feb. 23 at 12:01 a.m. and reopens at 8 a.m. The Southbound I-605 Connector to SB I-5 will fully close on Sun, Feb. 23 at 1 a.m., and reopens at 8 a.m.

Work is being done to prepare pavement, striping and K-rail placement, as well as work on the Shoemaker Avenue Bridge.

The public can call the I-5 Information Line at (855) 454-6335 to sign up to receive emails about project updates and to stay informed of all construction work on the I-5 Corridor at Caltrans I-5 Corridor Improvements.
