Police have released video footage of Justin Bieber in a police station's jail following his January DUI arrest in Florida.
The footage shows the 19-year-old pop singer, wearing a black hoodie and red shoes, in a small room. He wobbles slightly while walking on a painted white line on the floor as part of a sobriety test, while an officer watches. R&B singer Khalil Miami, who was also arrested with Bieber, is seen sitting on a chair nearby.
On Wednesday, Feb. 26, Miami-Dave prosecutors released nine DVDs containing more than 10 hours of footage of the singer at the Miami Beach police station's jail following public records requests by the media. The Miami Herald reported that on Tuesday, Bieber's lawyers said they would not object to prosecutors releasing the footage as long as it did not contain five video clips that may show Bieber urinating at the facility.
Police had arrested Bieber and the R&B singer on Jan. 23 after pulling them over on a residential street in Miami Beach. They said the two were street racing. Bieber later pleaded not guilty to charges of driving under the influence with an expired license and resisting arrest. A preliminary toxicology report showed that the singer tested positive for marijuana and the anti-anxiety drug Xanax.
Police had said that Bieber told them he had "consumed alcohol, smoked pot and prescription medication." The legal drinking age in the United States is 21. A police report showed Bieber's blood-alcohol content was found to be below the .02 level considered intoxicated for underage drivers. Also, pot is permitted for medicinal use in California, where the singer had maintained a home at the time of his arrest. It is unclear if he has a prescription from a physician.
