Man critical after Laguna Beach hit-run; driver sought

LAGUNA BEACH, Calif.

Police received a 911 call early Monday morning from a driver who had discovered Shahram Mokrami-Tehrani, 51, of Corona Del Mar, in the road near the 2200 block of Laguna Canyon Road. The caller said Tehrani was severely injured and appeared to have been hit by a car.

An investigation determined that Tehrani was walking eastbound on the shoulder of Laguna Canyon Road when he was hit. The driver did not stop or render aid, police said.

Tehrani was taken to Mission Hospital, Mission Viejo, where he remains in critical condition.

The suspect has not been identified. Police describe the suspect's vehicle as a two-door dark-colored sedan with silver or light colored rims and possible front-end damage.
