Miley Cyrus and Katy Perry often battle it out on the pop music charts, but this time, they aimed friendly fire at each other on Twitter.
The pop divas took shots at each other on Twitter on March 6 after Cyrus learned of comments Perry made about the kiss the two shared during her "Bangerz" tour stop in Los Angeles in February 2014.
According to E! Online, Perry said the following in a recent interview with the Australian talk show "Sunrise" about the kiss: "I just walked up to her to give her like a friendly girly kiss, you know, as girls do ... and then she like tried to move her head and go deeper and I pulled away. God knows where that tongue has been ... We don't know! That tongue is so infamous."
Cyrus either did not take kindly to the comments, or found them humorous, composing a tweet to her more than 17 million Twitter followers containing a photo of screen grabs of the interview, with a caption that reads, "Girl if ur worried abt where tongues have been good thing ur ex boo is ur EX BOO cause we ALL know where THAT [emoticon of a tongue] been."
The above tweet refers to the recent reports of the split between Perry and musician John Mayer. The two have dated on-and-off for nearly two years. The breakup reports have not been confirmed by Perry, Mayer or their spokespeople. In the past, Mayer has been linked to numerous Hollywood stars, including Jennifer Aniston, Jessica Simpson and Jennifer Love Hewitt, of which Cyrus seemingly references in the tweet.
She followed up her first tweet with another, containing an image of a fan-art portrait of the photograph taken of the two kissing, with a caption that reads, "Dontchyouuuu act like you didn't lurvvvvv it @katyperry."
Perry ultimately caught wind of the Cyrus' Twitter joke, tweeting back to her, "@MileyCyrus Oooo gurrrl I'm gonna give you the BIGGEST spanking when I see you in the UK bb!."
