Former Glendale City Councilman John Drayman pleaded guilty Wednesday to stealing nearly $305,000 from a Montrose farmer's market over eight years and failing to pay taxes, Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office announced.

Drayman, 55, pleaded guilty to one felony count each of embezzlement, filing a false tax return and perjury. He admitted embezzling money he collected from the farmer's market from Jan. 1, 2004 and April 30, 2011, when he served as director of the Montrose Shopping Park Association.

The association discovered the embezzlement and money laundering in May 2011 and reported it to the Glendale Police Department.

Sentencing for Drayman will be held on April 7. He is expected to be sentenced to one year in county jail and ordered to repay $304,853 to the Montrose Shopping Park Association and $14,016 to the California Franchise Tax Board. He will also be placed on five years of probation.
