Callie's Cause: Paddle, run to fight epilepsy

RANCHO PALOS VERDES, Calif.

"This is incredible, we have over 50 paddlers for Callie's cause, raising awareness for epilepsy. And we're just blown away on the love and support from the community," said Ryan Addison, Callie's father.

Sixty people met at a cove near Terranea Resort in Rancho Palos Verdes at the crack of dawn on Friday. It was 20 miles of stand-up paddling over six hours out to Santa Catalina Island.

Then they'll run 26.2 miles in the Catalina Marathon Saturday. Then it's 20 miles of paddling back again on Sunday.

This is the third year of this epic three-day challenge, but the first time they're raising money for a cause close to their hearts.

"All of the funds that we raise go directly to UCLA Pediatric Neurology with a focus on epilepsy," said Ryan Addison.
