Kanye West has pleaded no contest to misdemeanor battery in a case involving a scuffle with a photographer and has avoided jail time.
The 36-year-old hip-hop star was sentenced to two years of probation and ordered to complete 24 anger management therapy sessions and 250 hours of community service after his lawyer entered his plea on his behalf at a court hearing in Los Angeles on Monday, March 17, the Associated Press reported.
West had in November pleaded not guilty to charges of misdemeanor battery and attempted grand theft following the scuffle, which occurred last year at Los Angeles International Airport. Both carried the threat of jail time. A no contest plea means that West maintains his innocence in the case.
The news comes about six weeks after prosecutors said they would not pursue charges against the hip-hop star regarding another alleged battery case involving another photographer.
