Big rig crashes, spills carrots on road in Lake Los Angeles

A big rig carrying carrots overturned Monday night in Lake Los Angeles, causing a major crash and one car to get stuck in a pile of the spilled vegetable.

The accident between the big rig and a car occurred at about 8:30 p.m. on 170th Street, according to California Highway Patrol. Five people were injured with two of them airlifted to a hospital, Los Angeles County Fire officials said.

A second car with two people was stuck in a pile of carrots about 4 feet thick. They were not injured.

No other details were immediately available.
