UCLA police search for sexual battery suspect

A search is underway for a man who attacked a UCLA student at Wilshire Boulevard and Selby Avenue on Sunday.

A search is underway for a man who attacked a UCLA student near campus.

The incident happened around 9 p.m. Sunday at Wilshire Boulevard and Selby Avenue. Police say the female student was talking on her cellphone and walking eastbound on Wilshire Boulevard when the man approached her from behind and "forcefully grabbed and sexually battered" her.

When the victim turned around, she saw the suspect getting into a newer model silver sedan, which was last seen fleeing southbound on Selby Avenue.

The suspect was described by police as a white male, approximately 30 to 40 years old, standing 5 feet 10 inches to 5 feet 11 inches tall, with an average build and dirty blond or brown spiked hair. He was wearing a blue or purple long sleeve dress shirt with white vertical stripes and khaki pants.
