Crews battle 2nd alarm recycling plant fire in Pomona

POMONA, Calif.

Fire officials said the fire broke out around 9 p.m. near First Street and Reservoir Road. Fire officials say bundles of plastic caught fire, and the building itself did not burn. Between 75 and 80 firefighters battled the blaze. A hazmat team was also called to the scene.

No injuries have been reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Nearby residents went to see what was going on and to take pictures of the blaze.

"We heard a loud bang from where we live, and then I checked outside and I just saw smoke coming out," said resident Carlos Moreno. "I asked my dad if we could go see what was happening, and we came over here and we saw the smoke coming out."

Crews were able to keep the fire away from other structures.
