Taco Bell ad uses real Ronald McDonalds to endorse breakfast

NEW YORK

Taco Bell will begin airing ads Thursday that feature men who have the same name as the famous McDonald's clown. The marketing campaign is intended to create laughs and promote the fast-food chain's new breakfast menu.

"We like to do things with a wink and smile," Taco Bell President Brian Niccol said. "We have a sense of humor."

The chain's ad agency, Deutsch LA, found about 400 men and women with the name Ronald McDonald or some variation, Niccol said. About a dozen men were selected from across the country.

Those featured were paid for their appearances in the ads, but Niccol said their reactions are real.

In the commercial, they show their approval of the food with comments like, "It's not messy" and "Mmm, wow" and "Mmm, real good" and "It has everything I like."
