Chelsea Handler is saying goodbye to her longtime home at E!
The comedienne, 39, is expected to end her E! cable network talk show, "Chelsea Lately," after eight years when her contract expires at the end of 2014. Handler's manager, Irving Azoff, told The Hollywood Reporter that the comic is looking to pursue new opportunities.
"Chelsea intends to leave when her contract expires," Azoff said. "She hired me to figure out her life after E! We have at least seven suitors and many ideas." Azoff added that potential plans for Handler could include a radio show and a new nightly or weekly late-night talk show on a new network or digital platform.
Over the years on "Chelsea Lately," Handler has expressed her humorous displeasure for the E! network, often alluding to getting into hot water whenever she pokes fun at fellow network stars the Kardashians. In addition to delving into the latest in celebrity and bizarre news on "Chelsea Lately," Handler has included a rotation of fellow comics as part of the show's panel segment and has interviewed numerous celebrity guests.
The news of the impending end of "Chelsea Lately" comes on the heels of Handler slamming Piers Morgan and his now-canceled CNN show as being a "terrible interviewer." Handler has also been busy promoting her latest book, titled "Uganda Be Kidding Me."
