Pharrell Williams will soon wear another hat -- he is set to replace CeeLo Green as a coach on NBC's "The Voice."
The news was announced on Monday, March 31. CeeLo's exit was confirmed in February.
"This is going to be so fun," tweeted Williams, who famously spurred a slew of online memes after wearing a brown Vivienne Westwood hat to the 2014 Grammys that month (watch video, above.
"Guys, we can't get over how amazing SEASON 7 will be with @pharrell as our #NewVoiceCoach," read a message posted on the official Twitter page of "The Voice," adding: "@Pharrell You got us doing our 'Happy' dance."
The 41-year-old R&B and hip-hop singer was earlier this month nominated for an Oscar for his song "Happy," from the 2013 animated film "Despicable Me 2." He has appeared on "The Voice" before -- he served as a guest adviser to Team Usher and performed the hit "Blurred Lines" with Robin Thicke and T.I. on "The Voice" in 2013.
"I am thrilled to have Pharrell come back to 'The Voice' family, and this time ... as a coach," Executive Producer Mark Burnett said in a statement obtained by OTRC.com. "Continuing in 'The Voice' tradition of having the biggest and most current music stars as coaches, Pharrell fits perfectly."
In 2011, the singer served as a guest judge on Simon Cowell's FOX singing competition series, "The X Factor." He was also a guest judge on an episode of the fashion reality show "Project Runway All Stars" in 2012.
CeeLo Green's surprise exit from "The Voice"
CeeLo's announcement about his exit from the singing competition series came as a surprise and was made on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show." He served as a coach for four seasons and is one of the original four. This is the first time one of them has permanently left the show, which has been switching cast members Christina Aguilera and CeeLo with Shakira and Usher during the spring seasons.
CeeLo said that he planned on continuing a relationship with NBC, with whom he has a TV development deal, and plans to work on his new album.
"The Voice" is currently on its sixth season and features Adam Levine, Blake Shelton, Usher and Shakira. Season 7 is expected to premiere in the fall. Aside from Williams, NBC has not announced the coach lineup.
" @Pharrell Welcome to the circus dude!" Levine tweeted.
