Two $50,000 rewards have been renewed to help find the suspect or suspects who may have murdered two women in Los Angeles County and left their bodies near local freeways.

The Los Angeles City Council on Friday approved the renewal of the rewards.

Bree'ana Guzman was found dead near the 2 Freeway in the Silver Lake area in 2012. Michelle Lozano, 17, was found inside a plastic storage container along the 5 Freeway near Boyle Heights in 2011.

The rewards were first approved in each case in February 2012. At that time, authorities said detectives were exploring the possibility that the killings were connected.

So far, authorities have not confirmed a link in the cases. Authorities said more information would be released next week.
