Drake surprises 15-year-old cancer patient in Houston

HOUSTON

Last week, Kennedy Brown's classmates threw her a 'high school in a day' experience, crowned her prom queen and congratulated her in a private graduation ceremony.

The young girl was diagnosed with brain cancer two years ago, and is now in hospice care. Her classmates were moved by her courage and wanted to make sure she got the prom she deserved.

Following the party, there was still one wish Brown hadn't been granted - what she really wanted was to meet her favorite hip-hop artist Drake.

Needless to say, they had trouble getting in touch with the Grammy-award winning hitmaker. That was until our sister station KTRK-TV station in Houston caught wind of her story.

The station broadcasted the 15-year-old girl's wish Thursday.

"We would ask all of your viewers to #DrakeForKen so we can get him to come see her or send something for her because that would mean the world to her," classmate Payton Campbell said on air.

Within hours, the story went viral, trending in Houston and other U.S. cities.

People from across the country tweeted Drake, and the rapper took it upon himself to fly to Houston Saturday just for Kennedy.

The rapper posted a series of Instagram photos of him and Kennedy embracing and smiling.
