Rialto man fatally stabbed in group fight at Bonaminio Park

RIVERSIDE, Calif.

Riverside police officers responded at 9:09 p.m. to multiple reports of a fight in progress at the park, located at 4704 Tequesquite Avenue. Various weapons, including possibly knives, sticks and a shovel, were reportedly being used in the fight.

Arriving officers found witnesses to the scene but parties involved were gone.

A short time later Riverside Community Hospital reported receiving two stabbing victims. Rialto resident Marco Rolan, 37, died from his injuries. A second man was treated for non-life-threatening injuries and released.

Homicide detectives determined a fight broke out between a group visiting the park and a group of people from apartments across the street from the park. An argument escalated into a mutual physical fight, police said. One suspect from the apartment group allegedly stabbed Rolan and cut the second man.

Police located Andre Reed, 33, at his apartment complex on the 5300 block of Olivewood Avenue. Reed was arrested there and was set to be booked for murder at the Riverside County Jail.

Police said there were no indications the incident was gang-related.

Detectives believe there were witnesses to the fight who left prior to officers arriving. Detectives would like to speak with anyone with information on this investigation is asked to contact Detective Dave Smith at (951) 353-7103 or Detective Greg Rowe at (951) 353-7136.
