Laura Prepon is speaking out about rumors that she is dating actor Tom Cruise.

The 34-year-old actress has been romantically linked to Cruise in tabloids for a few months, with a couple of reports citing their shared belief in Scientology as a reason behind their pairing. However, the Prepon quickly shot down those reports as false recently.

"It's just so funny that, when people don't know, they just make stuff up, [like], apparently I'm dating Tom Cruise right now," the actress told SheKnows.com. "And apparently he doesn't want me doing the show because I portray a lesbian and I'm a Scientologist. This is false; where are they even getting this stuff? It's unbelievable to me."

A spokesperson for Prepon confirmed to OTRC.com that Prepon's statements to the site were accurate. The lesbian role Prepon was referring to in her quote was her role on the popular Netflix series "Orange Is The New Black" as Alex Vause, the lesbian on-again-off-again girlfriend of main character Piper Chapman (Taylor Schilling). Prepon also made it clear that she is a supporter of the LGBT community.

"You know, in terms of portraying a lesbian on the show, I am a huge supporter of the LGBT community. I'm going to the GLAAD Awards in a few weeks," the actress said. "I went to the human rights campaign. I flew up to San Francisco and did this whole thing and I won this award [for] being a straight woman portraying a gay woman on camera. I'm a total supporter of the LGBT and they are an amazing fan base."

Prepon will again be seen on season 2 of "Orange Is the New Black." She recently told The Daily Beast (Warning: interview contains explicit language) that she will appear in four episodes of the season and has agreed to appear in "every episode" if the show gets a third season.

The second season of "Orange Is the New Black" debuts on Netflix on June 6. Check out five highlights from the trailer for the new season here.
