Eric Hill, a contestant on the 10th season of ABC's "The Bachelorette" with Andi Dorfman, has died after being involved in a paragliding accident.
Hill's sister, Karen Tracy, confirmed the news on her Facebook page that her brother had passed away after falling into a coma due to the accident on Sunday. ABC has not commented about Hill's passing. ABC News reported that Hill did not appear to be filming "The Bachelorette" at the time of the accident. OTRC.com has learned that most of a "Bachelor" or spinoff's season is filmed months before the air date of its premiere.
UPDATE - "Bachelor" producers comment: "We are deeply saddened to hear about the tragic passing of our friend, Eric Hill. Eric inspired us every day with his passion, his courage and his adventurous spirit, and for that we are very thankful. On behalf of our cast, crew and producers, we send our love, our thoughts and our prayers to Eric's family during this difficult time," "Bachelor" producers said in a statement provided by Warner Bros. production company.
Hill, a California native, was a global traveler who documented his journey to visit 195 countries in world record time, known as "The Global Odyssey." He shared his experiences through photographs and entries on his official website and Facebook page.
A full list of contestants who will compete for star Andi Dorfman on season 10 of "The Bachelorette" has not been released. The show is set to return on May 19, 2014.
