There ain't no party like a birthday party -- unless, of course, Katy Perry is throwing it!
The singer released a hilarious, eight-minute long music video for her new single "Birthday" on April 24, in which she disguises herself as five different characters at various birthday parties to mixed reactions. The music video can be watched here. (Warning: video contains expletives).
Perry tweeted about the release of the "Birthday" video, saying, "GUYS, PREPARE YOURSELVES cuz it's time to bring out the big balloons and #MakeItLikeYourBirthday!"
In the video, Perry physically transforms into five different characters, including "Goldie the Dancer," "Yosef Shulem the MC," "Kriss the Clown," "Ace the Animal Trainer" and "Princess Mandee." The singer proceeds to put party guests through one awkward situation after another, including almost choking on a mouse as the animal trainer, causing a car crash and performing suggestive dance moves at an elderly man's birthday party.
Perry finally reveals herself at a children's birthday party, where she gives terrible face-painting jobs as "Princess Mandee." She says, to the delight of the young partygoers, "I wanna say I'm really sorry to like, everybody that I did like, a face painting on, but I'm really not like, a professional face painter. I'm Katy Perry!"
"Birthday" is the fourth single released off of Perry's album "Prism," which was released in October 2013. Perry has said that the song's overall vibe was inspired by the likes of Mariah Carey and Prince. It is preceded by the songs "Roar," "Unconditionally" and "Dark Horse," all of which feature drastically different music videos from each other.
