Homeless man electrocuted while pushing cart in Fullerton

A homeless man was electrocuted as he pushed a shopping cart over a downed power line in the 1800 block of west Commonwealth Avenue in Fullerton Friday, April 25, 2014.

Southern California Edison says a metallic balloon may have hit power lines and electrocuted a homeless man in Fullerton Friday.

The victim was pushing a metal shopping cart over a downed power line in the 1800 block of west Commonwealth Avenue around 4 p.m.

The victim, identified as a man in his 40s, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Electricity to the line was immediately shut down, and crews were sent to make repairs.
