The recall involves the 2014 Buick Enclave, Chevrolet Traverse and GMC Acadia. The affected SUVs were built between March 26 and Aug. 15, 2013.
The automaker says the problem may cause vehicles to run out of gas and stall without warning.
Dealers will immediately begin reprogramming the engine control module software for free.
General Motors says it doesn't know of any crashes or injuries related to the problem.
