A driver fled after slamming into a donut shop in Long Beach early Sunday morning. The shop's owner suffered minor injuries.

The crash happened at the Sunrise Donut shop at the intersection of 7th Street and Gaviota Avenue around 3 a.m. as the owner and a baker were inside. The owner was cleaning when a Toyota Camry crashed into the building.

The owner had to dive out of the car's way. Long Beach police said he was treated at the scene, but may return to the hospital later.

According to the owner, the driver got out of the car and asked them not to call the police. The driver then fled the scene on foot.

Long Beach police say it is unclear if drugs or alcohol were a factor in the collision.

The shop was boarded up for repairs and the vehicle was impounded. It is unknown when the shop will reopen.
