'Dancing With The Stars' contestants ballroom battle it out

LOS ANGELES

Danica McKellar was cut from the competition Monday night. She and her partner Val Chmerkovskiy lasted for eight weeks of competition.

It's been amazing. I've had an amazing time. I've learned so much. Val is an incredible teacher and choreographer. It's been a blast. No regrets, I'm really happy," said McKellar.

So are Charlie White and Amy Purdy. Both stars earned a perfect score for one of their two dances.

"I'm excited that I'm able to share this journey with the people who are watching and to be able to show how challenging it is," said Purdy.

James Maslow and Peta Murgatroyd had to wait till the end of the show to learn their fate.

"It was painful. I didn't know whether to cry, whether to vomit on him," said Murgatroyd.

Candace Cameron Bure and Mark Ballas are a point behind them. With Meryl Davis and Maksim Chmerkovskiy going from first to last with a tough critique from guest judge Abby Lee Miller of "Dance Moms".

"I really don't care for anything that she has to say," Chmerkovskiy responded.

"I just think a dance teacher's job is to prepare the dancers for competition and that's what I do, but I also teach them to respect the judges at least while we're inside the building."

Next week's semifinals will feature the songs of American pop music icons, from Elvis Presley to Beyonce.
