The coaches on "The Voice" have become known for their on-air antics and jokes, so it is no surprise that Adam Levine was the subject of several jokes following the reveal of his newly-dyed blond hair.
During the singing competition show's live May 5 episode, Levine debuted his bleached blond hair that he previously revealed in a Twitter photo with fiancee Behati Prinsloo. When asked by host Carson Daly why the sudden change of tresses, Levine made light of the situation and said he's unsure why he made the change.
"I don't have an explanation," Levine said. "I woke up, I had the day off, and I thought I'd look like Shakira."
"Us blondes are gonna stick together," Shakira said.
"Yeah, I needed some camaraderie over here so, she and I are the two fierce blondes that have to be dealt with," Levine said.
Daly went on to ask if the change was for a movie role, which Levine said it was not, but did say that the comments he's received from loved ones, and online, has been generally mixed.
"I feel a little bit like a futuristic cyborg, which I'm totally okay with ... my mom hates it, but that was gonna kind of happen anyway. I don't know, I like it, it's different, I don't know why I did it, but it feels right," Levine added.
When Levine's fellow coaches were asked to comment on the blond makeover, Usher and Blake Shelton wasted no time in getting their best jokes in, compairing Levine to Bruce Willis in "The Fifth Element" and famous Hollywood blonde Meg Ryan.
"He said futuristic, I felt like, you know, Bruce Willis showed up, and he's got his hair back from 'Fifth Element,'" Usher said.
"That's Adam? I thought Meg Ryan was sitting in with us tonight for a second there," Shelton said.
