Just in time for Mother's Day, Mila Kunis chose the "Ellen DeGeneres Show" as the place to confirm her pregnancy and engagement to Ashton Kutcher, revealed she wants a natural birth and even got to fulfill a pregnancy craving on the air.
Sporting a loose-fitting, sleeveless white dress, the 30-year-old actress appeared on the syndicated talk show in an episode airing on Friday, May 9, two days before the holiday and following reports and weeks of showcasing what appears to be a baby bump.
The actress' engagement to Kutcher was first reported in February and her pregnancy in March. On The "Ellen DeGeneres Show," she wore her engagement ring and said it was "amazing" that celebrity photographers, who regularly follow the two stars, did not initially notice it.
"We were able to keep this private for two months -- two months without anybody knowing," she said.
During the interview, she also revealed what Kutcher, 36, has been doing to help her during her pregnancy and prepare for their new arrival.
Check out five highlights from Kunis' interview and watch a clip below.
- 1. Mila Kunis coy about due date, gender
Kunis revealed that she is due to give birth to her and Kutcher's baby "sometime this year."
She declined to reveal the gender of the child but did say the two have picked out a name.
2. Mila Kunis wants a natural birth.
"We thought about it -- we watched a couple of documentaries and we looked into like, the, you know, midwife aspect of it and things and spoke to my OBGYN and realized that the hospital that I'm gonna be laboring in does a midwife, you know, doula type of thing. So I'm gonna do it as all-natural as I possibly can unless ... there is an emergency or something that should go wrong."
And there will be no epidural for Kunis, either.
"I know. I'm crazy," she said. "I mean, I did this to myself. I might as well just do it right. I wanted this. It's not like, no one made me do this!"
"You didn't do it to yourself -- I know that much," DeGeneres joked.
3. Mila Kunis talks pregnancy cravings ... and fulfills one
When asked if she was experiencing cravings, Kunis told Degeneres: "Yes. I mean, I am very stereotypical. I eat sauerkraut all day long."
"Because you're from Ukraine, right?" the host asked.
Kunis was born in Ukraine when it was under Soviet rule and speaks fluent Russian. She and her family moved to Los Angeles when she was 7 years old.
DeGeneres also asked Kunis if she also craves pickles.
"Both," she replied.
"Do you want some?" DeGeneres asked.
"Yes," Kunis said.
A man carrying a box of wrapped pickles and containers of sauerkraut then appeared on stage and Kunis immediately tucked in.
"It's Bubbies Sauerkraut -- I've gone through all of them," she said, chewing.
"Oh, you know your sauerkraut," DeGeneres said. "And you just eat it raw like that?"
"Yeah," Kunis said, smiling. "Is that weird?"
4. Ashton Kutcher is amazing, apparently.
"He assumed that I was gonna have goofy cravings," Kunis said about her fiance. "So he stocked our secondary fridge with weird food ... like pickles and sauerkrauts and anchovies and ice creams -- just in case, at one point during this pregnancy, I'd be like, 'I really want something.' And it happened last week. I was like, 'Oh my God, I need a pickle!' Like, it was just the weirdest thing, like, I needed this pickle and he was like, 'Hold on a second,' and like, disappeared in the backyard [to go to the fridge] and came back with like, the most amazing dill pickle of all time."
5. Moladets, Ashton!
Kunis revealed on the "Ellen DeGeneres Show" that Kutcher has been learning Russian since late last year, so he can speak the language with their child.
"He's been taking classes for probably like, six months now," the actress said. "Yeah, he does it twice a week. A woman comes to the house and gives him lessons. It's really, really great."
