A man was arrested early Sunday morning after allegedly shooting another man at a Simi Valley party.

Simi Valley Police received a report of a fight and a possible gunshot heard at about 1:47 a.m. Sunday. Officers responded to the location on the 1200 block of Patricia Avenue and found an 18-year-old man with a gunshot wound to his upper right arm.

The victim was hospitalized at Los Robles Medical Center and treated for the non-life-threatening wound.

The victim and a witness told police there was a fight between partygoers at a nearby apartment. The suspect had already fled the location, according to police.

Investigators determined the fleeing suspect was likely driving to Fillmore, and Ventura County Sheriff's deputies located the suspect after receiving details of the suspect and his vehicle. The suspect was arrested without incident during a traffic stop.

The 35-year-old suspect, a Simi Valley resident, was interviewed by Simi Valley Police detectives and provided details and the location of the handgun. The weapon was recovered and the suspect was booked on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to contact Simi Valley Police Detective Keith Eisenhour at (805) 583-6967.
