Andrew Lincoln puts on his best Rick Grimes face in a new, first-look photo at AMC's "The Walking Dead" season 5.
Spoiler alert! The picture was released on Tuesday, May 13, about two weeks after the season 4 finale saw Grimes, his son Carl (Chandler Riggs) and friends Michonne and Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus) being "herded" into an "A" cattle car by snipers in the mysterious makeshift town of Terminus, touted as a "sanctuary" for survivors of the zombie apocalypse. There, they are reunited with several friends and new allies. (Read a RECAP of the season 4 finale of "The Walking Dead," titled "A.")
The last scene of the finale saw Grimes looking bloody and declaring inside the cattle car that the people of Terminus are going to "feel pretty stupid when they find out" that "they're screwing with the wrong people." In the new picture, Lincoln sports a similar, look, including the same determined expression that is very Rick Grimes, and appears to look out through an entrance.
Season 5 of "The Walking Dead," the highest-rated cable television show, is set to premiere in October and recently began production. Deadline reported on May 5 that "The Wire" alum Seth Gillam has joined the cast and will play a character who displays "friendly, puckish humor" but also has a "a haunted side stemming from a dark secret." Many fans have speculated online that he will portray Father Gabriel, a priest who is featured in the comic books on which the show is based. AMC has not commented on the casting and the rumors.
Meanwhile, Robert Kirkman, creator of the comic books and one of the show's executive producers, shared a teaser photo on his Twitter page on May 9, tweeting: "Guess where I was today?" Check it out below and also check out a full version of the first-look season 5 photo (credit: Gene Page / AMC)
