Was North West, the baby daughter of Kim Kardashian and fiance Kanye West, conceived in Florence? He thinks so, according to a local newspaper.
The interview was posted amid mixed reports about the location of the couple's May 24 wedding, which two outlets say will take place in the Italian city, while E! News, whose parent cable network broadcasts Kardashian's family's reality shows, disputes this.
The 36-year-old hip-hip star and fashion designer talks about the Italian city, the pair's upcoming May 24 wedding and his and Kardashian's daughter in a rare interview with the local newspaper La Nazione that was published on May 16, 2014. He had visited the city to study with fashion designer Ermanno Scervino.
"I love Florence, I love Italy and the Italian lifestyle," he is quoted as saying. "I already came to the banks of the Arno [river] with Kim last year, the two of us alone, incognito. And I think we conceived our daughter North here, among the masterpieces of the Renaissance."
West and Kardashian, 33, vacationed in Italy, including in Florence, in late October 2012 for her 32rd birthday. North, their first child, was born on June 15, 2014.
"It was our first honeymoon," the newspaper quoted West as saying. "It is one of the most beautiful cities in the world, for me, the most beautiful in Europe."
West was also asked about the May 24 wedding date and the newspaper quoted him as saying he was "pretty excited." He also revealed Kardashian is his muse, adding that he consulted with her about "elegance" and clothing style.
"And she does the same for me," he added.
