Here's a treat for "SchueBerry" shippers.
"Glee" star Lea Michele, 27, say in her new book, "Brunette Ambition," that that before she got cast as Rachel Berry on the show, she and Matthew Morrison, who plays her teacher and glee club director Mr. Schue on the FOX series, used to date. A spokesperson for the 35-year-old actor had no immediate comment.
Check out five highlights from Michele's book, which was released on May 20.
1. On Matthew Morrison ...
Michele, a former child actress, says that she had worked with the actor on Broadway before landing her role on "Glee," which debuted in 2009. She has appeared in musicals such as "Les Miserables" and "Spring Awakening" (with fellow show star Jonathan Groff), while Morrison starred in shows such as "Hairspray" and "The Rocky Horror Show."
"Matt had been a friend of mine for years, and in fact we'd actually dated back in the day for a Broadway beat," Michele wrote in her book.
A season 1 "Glee" episode had featured a short-lived storyline in which Berry developed a crush on Mr. Schue and sang a duet of "Endless Love" with him (see photo above, right).
In 2010, Morrison addressed tabloid reports of a romance with Michele in an interview with Parade magazine. He said: "We were literally on set and I got a call from my publicist, and she got a call a minute later and we looked at each other like, 'What the [expletive]?' It's so laughable."
2. The book includes photos of Cory Monteith.
The book contains photos of Michele and the rest of the "Glee" cast, including Cory Monteith, who played Finn, one of Rachel's love interests and the actress' her real-life boyfriend. He died after a heroin and alcohol overdose this past October.
One picture shows the two together on the lawn of the White House and one that shows the actor inside the building, standing next to a person dressed in an Easter Bunny costume. The 'Glee' cast sang for President Barack Obama and his family during a holiday celebration in April 2010.
3. The time Cory Moneith bought her shoes ...
Michele includes in the book a photo that shows a pair of shoes the actor gave her -- they are black stiletto heels, with three buckles across the front and a bottom strap over the toes. She mentions how "special" it is that he bought them, "since guys don't usually have the first clue about buying them."
4. One of her favorite "Glee" performances ...
The (steamy!) performance of Bonnie Tyler's "Total Eclipse of the Heart" in season 2 in 2010 was one of Michele's favorites. It featured Finn and their friend Puck but mainly Jesse, Rachel's other love interest, and showed the actress dancing ballet with him.
5. The time her dad helped save her life ..
Michele says a performance that incorporated Michael Jackson's "Thriller" during season 2 in 2011 took 11 hours to shoot and continued through the night, concluding at 7 a.m. Terrified she would fall asleep at the wheel, she phoned her dad and had him talk to her as she drove back to Los Angeles from the set, located about 45 minutes away. "Thankfully, he kept me company the whole ride home," she said.
