Well, Rihanna certainly gave people something to talk about during her appearance at the 2014 CFDA Fashion Awards on Monday, June 2.
The 26-year-old singer appeared at the event in a see-through fishnet dress designed by Adam Selman. The gown, according to (Warning: Link contains a nude image) Style.com, is made with 230,000 Swarovski crystals and little else.
"We definitely wanted to make it a little bit scandalous," Selman told the site. "The dress is just fishnet and crystals and a couple of fingers crossed. But fashion is about beauty, and the [female] body is part of that."
The designer also revealed that the matching cap was the singer's idea. Rihanna also wore a Pologeorgis fur stole with the gown.
It was a big night for the singer, who received the Fashion Icon Award at the event. Vogue editor Anna Wintour presented the award.
"I can compensate for all my weaknesses with my fashion," Rihanna said after accepting the award, according to the Associated Press. She later added, "There are rules, but rules are meant to be broken."
