LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- A home or coffee shop is a wireless Internet hot spot, and now a car can be a WiFi hot spot as well.
The 2015 Buick LaCrosse has a built in 4G WiFi connection, and General Motors offers this in most of its 2015 cars.
While wireless Internet in cars is no longer that new, General Motors said it is offering the widest variety of cars to have the connection option. The vehicle choices range from compact cars to trucks and SUVs.
The connection is a good option to have for passengers. As with any WiFi connection, speeds will vary, especially when multiple passengers in the car are connected.
Right now, General Motors is including three months of the 4G service free and then customers must sign up with AT&T for a service plan.
The best deal is for those with an existing AT&T broadband account because they can add their car to their plan for an additional $10 per month. Subscribers to the OnStar plan can also add the hot spot service for an additional $5 per month.
