Orange County Auto Show packed with new 2018 models

ANAHEIM, Calif. (KABC) -- Everything is new at the Orange County Auto Show, some more than others. Hyundai is showing off its new 2018 Accent subcompact for the first time anywhere. Like others in its class, this one is geared toward a lot of first time buyers.

"We've been talking about it for many years, and the time has come where the Millennials and Gen Y are a major buying force now," said Michael Evanoff, a product planner with Hyundai Motor America.

Also making its Orange County debut is a small SUV that's geared toward younger buyers: the Ford EcoSport. It goes on sale in early 2018.

Or if that's not to your taste, it's likely something else here is. The choices are nearly endless.

"This is a place to come and shop for your next car, or if you're just a car buff, there's something to see, with over 600 new vehicles here," said John Sackrison, spokesman for the Orange County Auto Show

Southern California is a huge car market, and within that, so is Orange County.

"Orange County sells more new cars than 24 states. So the manufacturers know that the sales are here, so they come out with their A-game to this show," added John Sackrison.

You can look, shop and dream, but also test drive. Head downstairs or out back at the Anaheim Convention Center, and you can take a spin in dozens of different new models. There is no pressure to buy, because cars are not sold here.

One of the more popular attractions of the OC Auto Show is back this year. "Camp Jeep" lets you do some wild four-wheeling without leaving the building.

It's an obstacle course that shows off how well Jeeps do in the actual outdoors.

"Come on down, get in with us, we'll take you for a spin, show you a little bit about four-wheel drive, and do four-wheeling indoors. You don't get do to that very often," said Steve Lorton, who organizes Camp Jeep.
