LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- When you think of sports cars, you usually don't imagine them having electric motors, but a Silicon Valley company hopes to change that.

Renovo Motors says it has the fastest electric car on the market. The company's website claims the Renovo Coupe can go from 0 to 60 mph in 3.4 seconds, with a top speed of over 120 mph.

The car is said to be loaded with today's technology and its battery packs and electric cables look like a traditional gas engine.

The carmakers built it from the ground up. It has been in production in Silicon Valley for the past four years.

"We wanted a different product, a performance product, and we weren't going to wait any longer for anyone else to build it. We decided let's go build it ourselves," said Christopher Heiser with Renovo Motors.

The Renovo Coupe will be available in 2015 for $529,000.
