GoDaddy pulled an ad the company planned to run during the Super Bowl, after many viewers said it promoted so-called "puppy mills."

In the spot, a puppy falls off the back of a truck and is separated from his family. He makes his way home, only to find his owners have sold him using a website built by GoDaddy.

Many said the commercial's message supports inhumane pet breeding businesses. After the video was posted on YouTube, a Change.org petition to kill the ad gained nearly 40,000 signatures.

GoDaddy apologized and said it will run a different spot during the Super Bowl. It also took the ad off its official social media accounts, though copies like the one above have been appearing on YouTube.

"We heard you and we changed course because of your feedback," the company stated on its Facebook page. Read the full apology here.
