Whole Foods says hackers gained access to customers' credit card information

NEW YORK (KABC) -- Whole Foods shoppers are being urged to check their credit card statements after the company says it was hacked.

The company says hackers gained access to customers' credit card information at some of its taprooms, restaurants and other in-store venues.

These venues use a different point of sale system than the company's primary store checkout systems, and cards used at the primary store checkout systems were not affected.

Whole Foods, which is now owned by Amazon, did not say which locations were targeted, or how many customers were impacted. Transactions on Amazon.com have not been impacted.

Whole Foods says it is now using a top cyber security forensics team to investigate the hack.
