SHERMAN OAKS, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- A brutal beauty salon brawl was captured on video and police say the aggressor had carjacked a vehicle in Chatsworth just before the attack.

The suspect entered a nail salon Wednesday morning in the 13600 block of Burbank Boulevard in Sherman Oaks and, police say, began assaulting three women inside for no apparent reason.

"He didn't even ask (for) money or anything, he just started to attack the clients," said the salon's manager, Meline Martirosyan.

The video shows two women fighting back, as another flees to get help. They smash him with chairs and fight off his assault until employees from a nearby business show up and help detain the man.

"I think he saw us rushing in there, he just gave up," said Rene Javier Solis, who held the assailant down until police arrived. "So there was no need for anything else because the ladies took care of business, as I like to say."

Authorities identified the suspect as Gustavo Aranda, 25, of Chatsworth. They said he was responsible for a carjacking in Van Nuys earlier that morning.

The carjacking occurred at 8:25 a.m. in the 14400 block of Gilmore Street in Van Nuys. Investigators say the suspect approached the victim from behind and shouted obscenities, making the victim run away in fear.

The suspect then chased after the man and hit him again and again, knocking him to the ground. He then took the man's keys and stole his 2007 gray Toyota 4 Runner.

Police located the stolen vehicle later in the day. They say they also found another alleged victim.

Anyone with information is asked to call Van Nuys detectives at (818)374-0081 or provide an anonymous tip to Crime Stoppers at (800)222-TIPS.
