ANAHEIM, Calif. (KABC) -- A community is asking for prayers for a star athlete hospitalized after suddenly collapsing during a run.

Morgan Wilson, who is the captain of the Esperanza High School tennis team, was running a few laps at Boysen Park in Anaheim before a tennis lesson, when she suddenly collapsed on Wednesday.

Doctors at UC Irvine Medical Center said she went into cardiac arrest and placed her in an induced coma. Doctors told her father they aren't sure what caused the incident.

Scott Wilson said his daughter exercises regularly, running 4 to 5 miles every day.

On Thursday, her school friends held a prayer on campus at the tennis courts. They were also on social media asking for support under #prayformorgan.

"These next few days are really critical, so we need prayers and support," Scott Wilson said.
