SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. (KABC) -- Our ABC7 Cool Kid for Thursday, Feb. 12 is Tray'Veon Dozier, who works with special education students at Pacific High School in San Bernardino.

He said he is always there for the students, even if they're frustrated or have the occasional bad day.

"Some of them do lash out...like their emotions change and stuff like that, but you've got to tell them 'keep your head up' and that everything is going to get better," he said.

Dozier's compassion is apparent and it extends beyond the classroom.

"He's very kind to the students and he even supports them during lunchtime and passing period. He likes to make sure they're included when we have rallies and everything else that is going on on campus as well," said Barbara Arient, a special education teacher at the school.

He spends time with the students, playing games with them as well as teaching them practical things such as computer skills. But Dozier said he is most impressed with the skills those students already have.

"Even with their different abilities, they all have talents. Daniel, he can draw very well. There's Marcos and Maria - they know how to speak Spanish fluently...and that's amazing to me," he said.

Dozier is making sure that students who might have missed out on some things get to enjoy the full experience of high school.
