The Los Angeles Unified School District has reversed its decision on the school year start date.

After voting in the fall to start school after Labor Day, the board voted this week to revert back to this year's schedule. That means starting the school year in mid-August.

Board members changed their minds amid decreasing enrollment at LAUSD and concern about increased competition from charter schools.

Teachers and principals said this will allow for more time at the end of the year for college tests.
