'Dancing With the Stars' week 2 dance-by-dance recap: 1st elimination
The couples on "Dancing With the Stars" step up the competition, dance through the pain, reflect on the first elimination, and celebrate a joyful reunion!

LOS ANGELES -- The 12 celebrities who make up the cast of "Dancing With the Stars" all got to dance one last time before the first elimination of the season.

In the spirit of this week's theme "#MyJamMonday," the couples performed to a favorite song of their choosing. The fact that Patti LaBelle danced to "In Da Club" by 50 Cent says it all! We were a little worried about Patti because the 70-year-old legend injured her knee during rehearsal, but she's every bit a pro and danced - knee brace and all!

Here's a recap of round two, from highest score to lowest:

NASTIA LIUKIN - 34 out of 40

The Olympian proved she's out to win the gold! Nastia and Derek Hough are assigned the Rumba, which causes Derek to worry about Nastia being able to show her emotions. Her gymnastics training was just the opposite... stoic at all times! But she's a fast learner, both with the emotions and the dance steps. Head judge Len Goodman thought the dance was sharp, clean and crisp. Carrie Ann Inaba's jaw literally dropped, and Bruno Tonioli said their flow was flawless. Julianne Hough told Nastia she was naturally gifted and full of grace.

RUMER WILLIS - 32 out of 40

The front-runner remained strong and humble! Rumer says she's basically a goofball and told her partner Val Chmerkovskiy that she's not used to seeing herself as the graceful beauty that she presented on the dance floor last week. She also thinks she scared the other competitors a bit! The couple works very hard to master the Cha Cha so they won't be thought of as a one-hit wonder. Len told Rumer that it is no rumor - she can dance! Carrie Ann praised the purpose and intention Rumer uses when she takes a step. Bruno agreed and called her a warrior. Julianne told Rumer she's a powerhouse and reminded her to relax and breathe!

WILLOW SHIELDS - 32 out of 40

The season's youngest competitor was a little bummed out last week after landing in the middle of the pack. Mark Ballas brought out the fun with his concept for their Argentine Tango... it involved lots of balloons filled with paint. The paint bombs were flying, but it was all part of his vision. The paint that landed on their clothes became the colorful costumes of a powerful dance. Carrie Ann said the competition is tight and praised Mark's concept. Julianne agreed and praised Willow's intensity. Len and Bruno both complimented her on her maturity in the ballroom.

RIKER LYNCH - 32 out of 40

The edgy singer gets an elegant makeover to help get into character for the Foxtrot. Allison Holker's choreography allowed us to see a whole new side of the singer/actor. Bruno said Riker's Foxtrot was even slicker than his hair. Carrie Ann called him elegant, and Julianne's word was "radiant."

REDFOO - 31 out of 40

The singer was defeated after the results from week one. But he decided to take the criticism in a constructive way and called it motivating. Emma Slater loved seeing his competitive nature and the fire that was lit in her partner. Their Jive isn't just fun, it's also full of content. Bruno said he went from running on empty to running on plenty, and Carrie Ann told Redfoo he was in the zone.

MICHAEL SAM - 28 out of 40

The football star was a little offended last week when Len called his footwork "atrocious," but then his athlete mentality kicked in and he realized that's what coaches do... motivate you! He had a tough week due to football training commitments, and Peta Murgatroyd was admittedly worried about their performance. But their Foxtrot was spot on. Len praised the improved footwork. Julianne called them picture perfect. Carrie Ann applauded the transformation from last week, and Bruno said for such a big guy he's remarkably light on his feet.

ROBERT HERJAVEC - 28 out of 40

The TV Shark learned his lovely partner Kym Johnson had to crack the whip a little more since they only have four days to learn the Foxtrot. Even with a little more pressure, these two look like they are enjoying every minute of this experience. A producer slyly asks if any of the Internet rumors about a budding romance are true, but they dance around the question by saying they are too busy rehearsing to pay attention to gossip. The judges are thrilled, with Carrie Ann saying the duo is so cute they look like they're out of a fairy tale.

PATTIE LABELLE - 28 out of 40

The glamorous Miss LaBelle wanted to show she's got some sass in her! The song she chose is "In Da Club" by 50 Cent and she says, yes, she really, really likes it because it's a song that makes you want to get up and dance. On the down side, her knee is killing her; she injured it somehow during rehearsal. It's all wrapped up but she says nothing is going to stop her from doing this competition. Both Carrie Ann and Julianne bow down to the great LaBelle, and said they want to go to the club with her. Bruno let her know that V.I.P. is the only way to be!

SUZANNE SOMERS - 28 out of 40

The Jive is a great dance for the vivacious 68-year-old. She attacks the dance and shimmies her way through some fun and fancy footwork. Suzanne admitted she was scared at last week's premiere, but conquered that fear and worked very hard for week two's performance. During round one, Julianne asked her to be a little "raunchier," and Suzanne said she'd be happy to oblige! She also got a bit emotional, telling all women out in TV land that it's not about your age! The judges were impressed, with Julianne calling her sassy and improved. Len praised her timing and energy, and Bruno thought the choreography was "tease-y" but not "sleazy."

NOAH GALLOWAY - 27 out or 40

The producers pulled off a good surprise on this dance! We start by seeing Noah Skyping with his girlfriend who's in basic training. He tells her he's dedicating his Samba to her, and of course again pulls off a pretty miraculous performance. Len called Noah an ordinary guy doing extraordinary things. Julianne called him grounded, and Carrie Ann said Noah and Sharna Burgess make a wonderful team. And then... surprise! Girlfriend Jamie is in the house! Tears all around.

CHARLOTTE MCKINNEY - 26 out of 40

Apparently a lot of haters took to social media to blast Charlotte after round one. She took it really hard and said it gave her flashbacks to high school, which she dropped out of at 17 because of bullying. She worked through the sadness and decided to focus on her partner Keo Motsepe and put the negativity behind her. The judges were thrilled with her week-to-week improvement. Bruno told her to ignore the naysayers and to flaunt what she's got, and Julianne called her courageous for facing the online haters.

CHRIS SOULES - 21 out of 40

The most recent "Bachelor" seems to be excited about the prospect of learning the dance, but when it comes down to actually doing the moves, the excitement turns quickly to frustration. He says he just doesn't get the counting that choreography is based on. He smiles through several missteps, but the judges just can't ignore them and it shows with the scores. Len said Chris' Monday jam got him into a pickle, and Bruno thought his timing turned into jello on this jam.

It's a very quick elimination because of time constraints. Tom Bergeron calls out four couples that are "in jeopardy" (though not necessarily at the bottom of the leaderboard): Redfoo and Emma, Charlotte and Keo, Suzanne and Tony, and Chris and Witney.

Charlotte gets the first reprieve and Chris is the next save. That leaves Redfoo and Suzanne... and the first to go for season 20 is Redfoo.

Eleven couples return next week for another round of dancing... and another elimination!
