NEW YORK -- Ground-breaking former model and restaurateur B. Smith, who had gone missing, has been found at a Manhattan diner.

A search for the 65-year-old had been underway in the Hamptons after she never arrived in Southampton as expected around 7:30 p.m. Tuesday. She was last seen getting on a jitney bus earlier in the afternoon.

Her daughter spoke with the driver who said Smith got off at Sag Harbor stop.

WABC-TV, the ABC News affiliate in New York, has learned that friends are saying Smith got back onto the jitney and returned to the City. Someone recognized her at a diner in Manhattan and called it in.

Smith revealed earlier this year that she has Alzheimer's disease.

When asked if her health was deteriorating, her husband said she has never walked away or gotten lost before.

Smith was one of the first African-American models to grace the cover of "Mademoiselle."
