HOLLYWOOD (KABC) -- Ben Higgins of ABC's "The Bachelor" handed out more roses than usual on Friday, as he brought some Valentine's Day cheer to sick kids at Children's Hospital Los Angeles.

Higgins passed out heart-shaped balloons, Valentine's cards and plastic flowers to kids - as well as a few to nurses and parents, too.

"He was very sweet and just as handsome in person," said Ashley Kramer, whose son is a patient in the hospital.

Higgins was glad just to have the chance to bring some hope and cheer to the young patients.

"In life we always have hope," Higgins said. "I hope that as I walk out of here, every person I interact with has a little bit more hope."
