'Black-ish' star Anthony Anderson said show will not shy away from sensitive topics
'Black-ish' star Anthony Anderson is seen with his TV son, played by Miles Brown, in the first episode of the second season premiering Wednesday, Sept. 23, 2015.

LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- ABC's comedy sitcom "Black-ish" returns for a second season Wednesday and actor Anthony Anderson said the first episode will take a very candid and direct approach to a sensitive subject.

Anderson, the show's star and executive producer, said the first show may cause controversy.

"It's called 'the word' and we're dealing with the 'n' word. I think we're going to say it 14 times in our show," he said.

In the episode, Anderson's son Jack uses the "n" word after hearing his father sing it.

Anderson said he is excited about all the subject matters his team will be tackling this season, and he is thrilled to be back with his TV family.

His work on season one with the fictional Johnson family earned him an Emmy nomination, and it was to that ceremony he took his real son, Nathan.

"George, that's all you can do," Anderson said. "We only have one life to live, brother, and you might as well make the best of it while you can."
