HOLLYWOOD, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Comedian Mel Brooks left future fans a final joke during his hand and footprint ceremony Monday outside the TCL Chinese Theatre in Hollywood - a six finger handprint.

The 88-year-old comedian staked a claim in the concrete with a fake finger on the 40th anniversary of his film "Young Frankenstein." Brooks is also responsible for comedies, including "Blazing Saddles" and "Spaceballs."

"I'm on the verge of crying. I'm really crying because I'm afraid my shoes are ruined in the cement, but otherwise it's an honor. It's a great honor," Brooks joked.

Brooks has been a Hollywood staple for more than 60 years. He started as a comedy writer, moved in front of the camera, then back behind it again as a director. Three of his films are ranked in the American Film Institute's top 15 comedies of all time.

Brooks is also one of the few entertainers to have won an Oscar, an Emmy, a Grammy and a Tony. His Academy Award was for "The Producers," a film that used Hitler as a punchline.

"I'm going to be so thrilled and happy to have people come and see my handprints and my feet and my name here," Brooks said.

But while Brooks' hands and feet did the work on Monday, it's his comedy that will make the lasting impression.
