Filmmaking process behind Pixar films explored in new exhibit

LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- The public will soon get a backstage pass to some of the most innovative films from Pixar.

A new exhibit, "The Science Behind Pixar," opens Saturday at the California Science Center.

More than 40 interactive exhibits look at each step in the filmmaking process behind such hits as "Finding Dory," "Cars," and "Toy Story" among many others.

The exhibit is hands-on - kids can adjust the lighting of characters and expressions on their faces.

"It's a great mix of being able to get you an understanding of what it takes to make our films in a way that's usually kind of hidden," said Pixar executive Lindsey Collins.

The Walt Disney Company is the parent company of Pixar and ABC7.
